Anatomy & Aging
Of a Ren Fair
Ren fair monsters are overall generally large creatures, their shoulders easily reaching 4-6ft high. They have deep ribcages which house large lungs for oxygen intake while running. Strong neck and limb muscles allow for easy movement of themselves and other objects. Narrow bodies allow them to move through dense foliage or crowded areas easier.
Back legs are long and powerful, equipped with five toed paws with hooklike nails.
Tails are generally very short and a little stubby. Longer tails are rarer.
Backs are usually a long even line with a drop where the pelvis is, only the first set of arms causes a shoulder bump, the second are lower down and unless the ren fair in question is incredibly muscular the second set causes no change in the dorsal silhouette.

1. there is a small patch of short soft furr directly in front of a ren fairs eye, this allows them to see forward past their fluffy faces, upon close examination it would appear velvety in texture.
2. They eyebrow ridge of a ren fairs face is very prominent. 3. The nose bridge on a ren fair is separate from the eyebrow ridge and usually bumps up unless is has an unusual head shape. 4. the point of a ren fairs nose usually turns upward and they have two slitted nostrils. 5. ren fair monsters have very prominent cheekbones, which can be defined by just the subtle shape of the underlying bone or even have tufted fur growing from it and accentuating it. 6. ren fairs usually have broad rounded chins, though they can be more slim in females. 7. ren fairs almost always have a mouth patch, the skin is sensitive, smooth, and metallic. It shimmers in the light and is used in ren fair greetings and to sense changes in the atmosphere. 8. ren fair eyes face forward and are very keen. They are able to see a wide range of space around their bodies with them. 9. ren fair ears almost always face backwards, the inside cannot be seen from a side view of a ren fair, but it can be seen if the ear is pulled away from the head. The ears are able to pin tightly against the head/neck to protect from sandstorms and rain. |
Ren fair monsters have specifically organized teeth. They are omnivorous and have both cutting/piercing teeth and flat grinding teeth. They have 8 flat front teeth that are used for cutting, 12 sickle shaped teeth that are used for hooking, tearing, and piercing, and then 16 flat molar type teeth that are used for grinding. When a ren fair opens their mouth it is easy to see the front teeth and all the sickle teeth, but only a few of the girding teeth will be in easy view due to a flap of skin that sort of covers the end of the mouth. This flap of skin is actually a cover for tendons and muscles in the jaw. Their lips/mouth slit end farther back than the flap for expressive reasons.
Ren fair tongues are long and flat with a sort of slightly wider spooned end, with a small split in the end. |
Ren Fair monsters have a completely functioning second set of limbs that are usually held up close to the body behind the first set of limbs. This second set of limbs is used to help ren fairs climb, create woven items, carry things, balance, and in some cases run faster.
The secondary limb is usually the same overall length as the first set of limbs but it has slightly different proportions. The upper arm is usually longer and the forearm is usually a tad shorter, while the wrist and hand are the same length. Each ren fair monster has a specific way they like to hold their arms when they are not in use, it all depends on which one feels comfortable to that specific ren fair. (other ways of holding their second arms at rest are also possible, these are just some examples) |
Ren fair monster hands are very humanlike and are composed of 4 fingers and a thumb. The nails are like that of a dogs, and they have a tough sin patch located on the center section of all four fingers.
When walking around ren fairs will curl their fingers so that their weight is placed on the tough skin patches. The wrist and hands of ren fair monsters are very tough and sturdy, allowing them to walk, run, and even jump and land without injury. Both their first set of arms and second set posses hands that are fit for walking, though usually only the front set is used. |
